urticarial stage of pemphigoid
Histologic Features
- Basket-weave cornified layer
- Many eosinophils and a few lymphocytes within the epidermis
- Focal spongiosis
- Collections of eosinophils in the papillary dermis
- Edema of the papillary dermis
- A superficial perivascular and interstitial infiltrate consisting of lymphocytes, histiocytes, and numerous eosinophils
- Dilated capillaries of the superficial plexus
