Histologic Features
- A thin epidermis
- Elongated epithelioid tubercles near the epidermis
- Confluence of tubercles
- Tubercles consist of many epithelioid histiocytes and foamy histiocytes, multinucleated giant cells and plasma cells
- Lymphoid infiltrate around tubercles
- Involvement of cutaneous nerves by inflammatory infiltrates
- Few acid-fast bacilli demonstrated with the Fite stain
