recurrent nevus (pseudomelanoma)
Histologic Features
- An asymmetrical but circumscribed lesion with
- A flattened epidermis with fewer rete ridges
- An asymmetrical proliferation of slightly atypical melanocytes as single cells and nests at the DE junction
- Predominanting single cells but also melanocytic nests that tend to vary in sizes and shapes
- Scatter of single melanocytes above the basal layer
- Fibroplasia with vertically oriented dilated capillaries in the upper dermis
- Nests of banal nevus cells beneath the scar
- An inflammatory infiltrate around the capillaries along with melanophages
