Histologic Features
- An exophytic, sessile polypoid lesion characterized by
- Epithelial collarettes on both sides
- Numerous small vascular spaces filled with erythrocytes
- Vessel walls lined by plump endothelial cells
- Fibrous trabeculae separating lobules of vessels
- A mixed-cell infiltrate throughout the lesion
- Focal extravasation of erythrocytes in the stroma
- Hemosiderin depositions in the stroma
- A proliferation of fibroblast-like cells with oval nuclei between the vessels
- A increased number of mitoses
