phlebangioma (arterial venous hemangioma)
Histologic Features
- A well-circumscribed lesion in the dermis separated from the epidermis by a layer of non-involved papillary dermis, characterized by
- Admixture of thick wall and thin wall vessels in close proximity
- A single layer of endothelial cells lining the vessel spaces
- Smooth muscles present within the vessel walls of the thick-walled blood vessels
- Lumina filled with erythrocytes
- Thrombi present within some vessels
- Some inflammatory cells present in the vicinity
