Histologic Features
- Primarily a lobular process with extensive coagulation necrosis of lipocytes showing granular basophilic globules in an eosinophilic amorphous debris and ghost-like fat cells with shadowy walls
- Varying degrees of calcification of the necrotic lipocytes
- A moderately dense infiltrate of neutrophils and nuclear dust
- Surrounding foamy histiocytes and multinucleated giant histiocytes as well as a mixed cellular infiltrate
