necrolytic migratory erythema (glucagonoma syndrome)
Histologic Features
- Confluent parakeratosis containing neutrophils
- Ballooning degeneration of the upper keratinocytes producing superficial intraepidermal blisters containing many neutrophils
- Pale staining of the upper half of the epidermis and scattered necrotic keratinocytes
- Edema of the papillary dermis
- Extravasated erythrocytes
- Many dilated blood vessels
- A superficial lymphohistiocytic perivascular infiltrate containing many neutrophils
