Histologic Features
- Epidermal thinning
- An inflammatory involvement of all levels of the dermis with occasional extension into the panniculus
- Foci of sclerotic collagen degeneration surrounded by epithelioid histiocytes and foamy histiocytes
- Many multinucleated giant cells
- A prominent plasma cell infiltration
- Small vessel vasculitis
- Fibrin in the necrotic centers
- Presence of cystic spaces lined by a fine membraned in the deep dermis (lipomembranous changes)
