Histologic Features
- An ulcerated surface
- A scale crust on the surface
- Paget cells with large rounded nuclei and abundant pale-staining cytoplasm occurring singly and in nests throughout the epidermis and the adnexae
- Sparing of the basal layer by the Paget cells
- Clefts between the Paget cells and the surrounding keratinocytes
- Absence of multinucleated giant cells or dyskeratotic cells
- Underlying carcinoma of the breast present in the dermis
