Histologic Features
- Basement membrane thickening and vacuolar alteration of the basal layer
- A moderately dense perivascular and periadnexal infiltrate consisting of lymphocytes and plasma cells
- Abundant mucin deposition between collagen bundles
- Thickened sclerotic septa of the subcutis
- Lobular panniculitis containing lymphoid follicles with many plasma cells
- Scattered nuclear dust within the infiltrate
- Hyaline fat necrosis within the lobule
- Focal calcification within the lobules
