Histologic Features
- Compact orthokeratosis
- Lymphocytic exocytosis
- Extensive vacuolar alteration of the basal layer
- Marked edema and early sclerosis of the papillary dermis
- A dense lichenoid infiltrate of lymphocytes, histiocytes, and a few eosinophils in the papillary dermis
- Extravasated red blood cells and melanophages
- Dilated vessels of the superficial plexus surrounded by lymphocytes
