Histologic Features
- Compact orthokeratosis
- Wedge-shaped hypergranulosis
- Irregular epidermal hyperplasia (saw-tooth like)
- Vacuolar alteration of the basal layer
- Necrotic keratinocytes in the lower epidermis and hyaline bodies (Civatte bodies) in the papillary dermis
- Subepidermal cleft formation (Max Joseph space)
- A dense lymphohistiocytic band-like infiltrate with a few eosinophils obscuring the interface
- Many melanophages in the upper dermis
- A sparse, superficial perivascular infiltrate consisting oflymphocytes
