Histologic Features
- Compact orthokeratosis
- Dilated follicular infundibula filled with hyperkeratosis
- Slight hypergranulosis
- Atrophic follicular epithelia with perifollicular fibrosis and new collagen formation
- A dense lichenoid infiltrate of lymphocytes and histiocytes at the dermoepidermal junction of the upper portion of the hair follicles
- Prominent vacuolar degeneration and keratinocytic necrosis of the basal layer
- Plasma cells and eosinophils in varying numbers in the infiltrate
- Perifollicular fibrosis
