- A diffuse infiltrate in the dermis with sparing of the epidermis, characterized by
- A perivascular nodular infiltrate with
- Single atypical lymphoid cells between collagen bundles forming an unique lace-like pattern
- Mononuclear cells characterized by oval, pale, slightly convoluted nuclei and prominent nucleoli
- Infiltration of similar cells into the adnexal epithelium with destruction of the adnexal structures
- Many extravasated red blood cells
- Some immature eosinophils and nuclear dust between collagen bundles
