Histologic Features
- A small, symmetrical and well-circumscribed lesion characterized by
- Abundant melanin in the cornified layer and elongated rete ridges
- A proliferation of typical melanocytes as nests and single cells at the dermoepidermal junction
- A predominance of nests of melanocytes over single cells at the dermoepidermal junction
- Location of nests at the tips of the rete ridges
