Histologic Features
- A proliferation of slightly atypical melanocytes as nests and single cells at the DE junction
- Showing nests at the shoulders of the rete ridges and single melanocytes predominating at some foci
- Melanocytic nuclei as large as those of the keratinocytes
- Concentric fibroplasia around the rete ridges and lamellar fibroplasia in the papillary dermis
- Bridging of nests from adjacent retes
- Pigment incontinence and melanophages in the papillary dermis
- Minimal pagetoid spread of melanocytes in the epidermis
- A lymphocytic infiltrate at the base
