Histologic Features
- A proliferation of nevus cells characterized by nests of typical nevus cells in the dermis
- Arrangement of nevus cells in rows separated by clefts
- Scattered multinucleated giant nevus cells
- Melanin in the papillary dermis adjacent to the epidermis
- Maturation of the nevus cells with descent into the dermis
- Edema and hypervascularity of the dermis
