Histologic Features
- An lymphohistiocytic infiltrate around the follicles and involving the follicular epithelium
- A reticular degeneration of the follicular epithelium proper
- Pools of mucin between the keratinocytes and the sebaceous glands
- A perivascular infiltrate consisting of plasma cells, lymphocytes. histiocytes, and eosinophils
- Mucin deposition between collagen bundles in the dermis
- Absence of anagen hair bulbs in the subcutaneous fat
