Histologic Features
- A mostly normal epidermis and dermis but an abnormal panniculitis characterized by
- Widened septae with fibrosis
- A septal infiltrate consisting mostly of lymphocytes, histiocytes, multinucleated giant cells and a few eosinophils
- Many neutrophils within the septae (early stages)
- Fat lobules encroached by the spillage of inflammation into the fat lobules with multiple foamy histiocytes at the periphery
