eosinophilic fasciitis (Schulman's syndrome)
Histologic Features
- Slight thinning of the epidermis with effacement of the rete ridges
- Sclerodermoid changes of the collagen bundles of the dermis
- Slight perivascular infiltrate of lymphocytes, histiocytes, and plasma cells
- Thickened septae of the subcutaneous fat infiltrated by lymphocytes, histiocytes, plasma cells and many eosinophils
- Thickened fibrotic fascia containing a mixed infiltrate which includes plasma cells and eosinophils
- A mixed inflammatory infiltrate between muscle bundles
