Histologic Features
- A small neoplasm characterized by short strands or cords of basaloid cells in the dermis
- Cornified cysts in varying sizes
- Some cysts in association with cords giving a coma-like appearance
- A fibrotic stroma
- Clefts between stroma and stroma
- Focal calcifications
- Foci of giant cell granulomatous inflammation around ruptured cysts
- Attempts at the formation of hair bulbs
- Shadow cells present in the keratotic cysts
- Sebaceous duct differentiation
