chronic radiodermatitis
Histologic Features
- A thin epidermis with effacement of the retes
- Focal vacuolar alteration of the basal layer
- Hyperpigmentation of the basal layer
- Sclerotic collagen of the upper dermis but solar elastosis in the mid dermis
- Telangiectasis
- Large stellate fibroblasts and scattered multinucleated fibroblasts in the papillary dermis
- Scattered melanophages
- Loss of adnexal structures
- A patchy infiltrate of lymphocytes, histiocytes around the blood vessels
