basosquamous carcinoma
Histologic Features
- A scale-crust above ulceration
- Epidermal thinning
- Irregular basaloid lobules contiguous with the epidermis
- Absence of palisading of peripheral nuclei
- Striking pleomorphism of the basaloid cells with intercellular bridges
- Prominent attempts at cornification
- Many mitosis
- Necrosis en masse
- Clefts between neoplasm and stroma
- Extremely inflammatory fibrotic stroma with mucin deposition
