Histologic Features
- Extensive crusting and ulceration of the epidermal surface
- Poorly-formed granulomas containing large histiocytes, numerous multi-nucleated histiocytes, plasma cells, and scattered eosinophils
- A tendency for the inflammation to involve the vasculatures
- Scattered focal necrosis of the tissue
- Extension of the inflammation into the subcutis
- Narrow branching septated hyphae, 3 microns in diameter, seen in the vicinity of the vasculatures
