Wegener's granulomatosis
Histologic Features
- A mostly perivascular inflammatory process involving small and medium-sized arteries characterized by
- Thrombi within the lumina of medium-sized dermal vessels, fibrin within the vessel wall and infiltration by a dense infiltrate of neutrophils, lymphocytes, histiocytes and a few eosinophils.
- Thrombosed larger vessels in the subcutis, surrounded by mostly lymphocytes and histiocytes with a few neutrophils and eosinophils.
- Extravascular granulomas infiltrated with lymphocytes, eosinophils and neutrophils and a few multinucleated giant cells
