Histologic Features
- A vertically oriented but symmetrical dome-shaped lesion characterized by
- Sparing of the epidermis
- Thickened hypereosinophilic collagen bundles within the dermis
- Numerous spindle-shaped and oval melanocytes in association with highly melanized melanophages
- Lobules of highly-cellular spindled and oval nevus cells arranged into nerve-like bundles extending into the deep dermis
