Bowen's disease
Histologic Features
- A thick orthokeratotic horn with focal parakeratosis
- Parakeratotic cells with atypical large nuclei
- Disarray of the keratinocytic architecture with full-thickness atypia of the epidermis
- Large round neoplastic cells with hyperchromatic nuclei and homogenous eosinophilic cytoplasm (pagetoid)
- Scattered multinucleated atypical giant cells
- Mitotic figures and necrotic keratinocytes in large numbers
- Involvement of the upper follicular epithelium
- A lichenoid lymphohistiocytic infiltrate at the base
